September is Arthritis Awareness Month

September is Arthritis Awareness Month

Arthritis is a serious, urgent health crisis that demands our attention today. And Arthritis Awareness Month — September — is our time to crush its stigma and change the conversation.

In support of Arthritis Awareness Month, Arthritis Society Canada is teaming up with like-minded partners to help raise our voice. This month you can make a difference by:

  • Reading and sharing stories of people living with arthritis
Each week throughout September until October 12 (World Arthritis Day), Arthritis Society Canada will share stories of brave individuals on our website, showcasing the immense challenges faced while living with arthritis. People like Karam, who has endured a harrowing journey: a shocking cardiac arrest, intensive care, rehab with a walker, then a cane, and a slow ongoing recovery.

Advocate for change: Across Canada, people with arthritis are still waiting too long for life-changing joint-replacement surgeries. Now is the time to build momentum and share your voice! Please take action by sending a letter to elected officials and help amplify the campaign by sharing it with your networks and encouraging people to send their own message.

  • Attend our Arthritis Talks session: Attend Arthritis Society Canada’s Arthritis Awareness Month special webinar, scheduled on September 26th at 6 pm E.T. on a hotly debated topic — exploring whether gluten impacts arthritis and other autoimmune conditions. Register here.

  • Donate to Arthritis Society Canada: The urgency to fight this disease is greater than ever. During September, your gift will be matched by our generous donor, the Raymond Chang Foundation, doubling your impact on research, innovation, advocacy, information and support programs.
